When it comes to 8ft beams there isn’t really much choice. All the beams have the same steel adjustable legs and the only decision really in what color you want. Most companies just offer a solid color palette but the FC fun cheer comes with the option of a star-based beam which a lot of young gymnasts seemed to love.

The height adjustment allows 17”,19”121” to 23″ which at max is around 67cm shorter than competition standard.

Milliard (Wood 9.5 Feet) Folding Balance Beam

This competition-style balance beam is the best by a longshot. Unlike the other beams on the market, it uses a wooden base and pads it out with foam. This means you don’t get the squishing effect you see on the cheaper 100% foam beams.

While it doesn’t feel exactly like an official beam it’s the closest you will get on a portable beam.

The closest thing to a competition beam you can buy for home use. The Gym2Dance features a wooden core so you don’t get any squishing in the beam and it feels like a competition one. Sadly there is no adjustment in the height but that’s the trade-off for having a 12ft beam instead of the usual 8ft for home practice. Any height adjustment would make the beam feel wobbly.

The height of the beam is 13.5″ which is 34.29 centimeters. That’s around 100cm shorter than the competition standard which leaves it on the shorter side of beams.

Oteymart 6 FT Folding Gymnastics Beam

Made completely from foam so you will get a squishing effect the oteymart is an extremely reasonable price for a starter beam. It’s the cheapest 6ft beam that also folds and has an anti-slip base. While not fit for any serious training it’s suitable for young children just entering the sport.

Nimble Sports Tan Suede Beam

While a great beam which has a wooden core and a nice suede outer its a little overprices for an 8ft beam. Avoid unless you see some serious discount.

Team Sports Gymnastics

These small foam rollers tend to break and tear very easily after 1 or two uses. You are much better getting a folding floor beam that would last much much longer.

Milliard Adjustable Balance Beam

Another great choice of 8ft beam but just like the FC fun cheer the only real decision is color.

Springee 8ft Adjustable Balance Beam

While the same design as the Milliard and the Funcheer the Springee has one small advantage which is video instructions. This allows for easy assembly. If your not fussed about the magic star cover t he springee might be the better choice.
